English Grammar & Writing
Welcome to the General Education Centre’s “English Grammar & Writing” class. The Gr.2-Gr.5 class presents an advanced overview of the principles of English grammar.
Building on the basics that our students should already be aware of, this class reiterates the foundations of sentence structure and its key elements (adverbs, adjectives, abstract nouns etc.) while developing a better understanding of its intricacies.
Within the introduction to this class, we build on these foundations and establish a mastery of grammatical complexities. For example, instead of just simply learning about “pronouns,” the students will understand in-depth what personal, demonstrative, relative and indefinite pronouns are, how to determine the difference, and how to effectively use them in practice through writing.
The students will be working on a range of grammatical topics, focused on developing, bettering and reinforcing their understanding of English grammar. We will primarily focus on "parts of speech," such as regular/irregular plural nouns, pronoun types, regular/irregular present and past tense verbs, subject-verb agreement, verb types, gerunds/participles/infinitives, prepositional phrases etc.
Our small class sizes (max of 8 students) allows for an active group atmosphere, which encourages participation and teamwork! Our goal is to ensure that every child reaches their full potential, hence, we strive to keep our pricing affordable.
The class is a one hour class run weekly. Our small class sizes (max of 8 students) allows for an active group atmosphere, which encourages participation and teamwork! Our goal is to ensure that every child reaches their full potential! All class materials and homework will be assigned and handed in via google classroom.
By enrolling in our course, our students will better understand the complex grammatical concepts within "parts of speech" and learn to effectively recognize them in reading and apply them throughout their writing.
We hope to allow our students to become “masters” at advanced grammar!
